Chersonesus, Archaeological site in Sevastopol, Ukraine
The ancient city ruins extend over 30 hectares along the Black Sea coast, featuring a 3.5-kilometer defensive wall and numerous architectural remains.
Greek settlers from Heraclea Pontica established this colony in the 6th century BC, which later became part of Roman and Byzantine empires.
The site contains multiple basilicas, a Greek theater, and remnants of residential districts that demonstrate the evolution of architectural styles over centuries.
Visitors can access the archaeological park through guided tours that explain the significance of different structures and excavation areas.
The city preserved a democratic oath from the 3rd century BC, documenting the civic responsibilities and rights of its ancient inhabitants.
