Yevpatoria is a spa town on the southwestern Black Sea coast with long sandy beaches and shallow water. The city has three mineral-rich lakes - Chokrazh, Moinaki, and Saki - whose water and mud are used for therapeutic treatments in specialized centers.
Greek colonists established Kerkinitis here around 500 BCE, which later became an important harbor. The modern city received its current name in 1784 in honor of King Mithridates VI Eupator.
The Little Jerusalem quarter shows the Juma-Jami Mosque, Karaite prayer houses, the Egie Kapai Synagogue, and the Armenian Church standing side by side. These buildings reflect the religious diversity that existed here for centuries.
Visit during warmer months when the sea is warm for swimming and the mineral-rich waters are most therapeutic. The beaches and lakes are accessible and easy to explore on foot, though bring suitable footwear for sandy terrain.
