Niu-York

Niu-York is a rural settlement in Donetsk Oblast in eastern Ukraine situated along the banks of the Kryvi Torents River. The settlement spans a small area between fields and industrial facilities.

Mennonite settlers founded the place in 1892 with the goal of developing rural industry. The settlement grew in the following decades through its connection to neighboring regions by rail.

The settlement's name comes from early settlers who arrived from the north and established a community here generations ago. This connection to their roots remains important to local residents today.

The settlement sits by a river and remains connected to northern areas through rail links. Visitors can walk quietly through the main roads and observe the daily pace of local life.

Railway lines from the 19th century cross through this place and connect it to a larger network to the west. These historic tracks continue to shape the settlement's character today.
