Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Kharkiv

The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a Gothic Revival church in Kharkiv featuring a prominent bell tower topped with a spire. The main facade displays a large round rosette window that serves as a distinctive visual element on the upper portion of the building.

Polish architect Bolesław Michałowski designed the cathedral, which was built between 1887 and 1892. The structure was constructed on Gogol Street and became a defining landmark in the city's development.

The building served multiple functions, including an almshouse, orphan shelter, and parish school before its closure during the Soviet period.

The cathedral is located on Mykoly Hoholya Street 4 and remains accessible to visitors during opening hours. Religious services and various events are held regularly throughout the week for those wishing to attend.

Inside the building stands a Bavarian-manufactured organ that was installed in 1901. This instrument continues to represent a key part of the cathedral's musical heritage.
