Shevtchenko national reserve

The Shevchenko National Reserve encompasses 45 hectares of land near Kaniv and contains eight distinct cultural heritage sites along the Dnipro River.

Established in 1925, the reserve gained national status in 1989 and includes the grave of Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko on Tarasova Hill.

The site features a literary memorial museum displaying manuscripts, artworks, and personal belongings of Taras Shevchenko, illustrating Ukrainian cultural development.

Visitors can reach the reserve through organized tours from Kaniv, with the museum operating daily except Mondays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The bronze monument at Shevchenko's grave, created by sculptor Matvei Manizer in 1939, stands as a central element after surviving wartime destruction.
