Vinnytsia water tower, Water tower and museum in Vinnytsia, Ukraine
The Vinnytsia Water Tower is a red brick building with seven floors, standing on European Square in the center of the city. At the top of the structure, a large clock with a dial of about 2 meters faces outward toward the surrounding park.
The tower was built in 1912 to supply water to the city and serve as a fire observation post. After 1920 it lost its original function and was gradually repurposed over the following decades.
The tower houses the Museum of Military Glory, displaying exhibitions about conflicts from the 20th century since it opened for this purpose. Visitors can see objects that connect to the lived experiences of local people.
The tower sits on European Square in central Vinnytsia, inside a pedestrian area surrounded by a park, making it easy to reach on foot. Visitors can walk freely around the building and view it from different angles without any restriction.
At the base of the tower, three-dimensional artwork shows water bursting from pipes, creating a visual effect that catches most visitors off guard. This detail is a deliberate nod to the building's original role as a water distribution point.
