National Nature Park Great Meadow, National nature park near Vasylivka, Ukraine
The National Nature Park Great Meadow covers about 16,750 hectares along the south bank of the Dnieper River and features wetlands, steppes, and coastal strips. The landscape supports numerous plant species and provides various observation points throughout the protected territory.
The landscape was transformed in the mid-20th century when the Dnieper Hydroelectric Station created a large reservoir. Parts of the original meadow were flooded, but the region was later designated as a protected area.
The park runs four educational trails where visitors discover local wildlife and natural processes through guided walks. These pathways help people understand the importance of protecting such environments.
Visitors can explore marked trails and observation points distributed across the protected area. The warmest months offer the best conditions for bird watching and nature observation along these accessible paths.
The Sim Maiakiv section contains rare karst formations that naturally filter water and provide habitat for large fish populations. These underground structures also support nesting birds that winter in the region.
