Cherkasy Castle, Medieval wooden castle in Cherkasy, Ukraine

The castle measured 60 meters by 40 meters along the Dnieper strip with walls constructed from oak and pine logs filled with earth.

Built in 1392 as a defense against the Golden Horde, the castle underwent reconstruction in 1549 and served as protection from Turkish and Tatar invasions.

The fortress included living spaces, a church, rooms for guests, and four towers with locally manufactured artillery pieces placed at each corner in 1532.

Located within modern Bohdan Khmelnytsky Square on Castle Hill, the site now features footpaths, lighting, benches, and commemorative monuments.

The castle was protected by a wide moat and contained facilities such as barns, stables, and a dedicated residence for elderly inhabitants.
