The Wall-House is a residential building on Vorontsovskyi Lane in the Prymorskyi district of Odesa, Ukraine. It sits at a street corner and is built at such a sharp angle that its facade appears almost paper-thin when seen from certain spots along the lane.
The building went up in the late 19th century, during a period when Odesa was growing fast and builders were filling in every available plot of land. The unusual triangular footprint was likely a practical solution for making use of a difficult corner lot left by the street layout.
Locals know the building as the Witch House, a nickname that has traveled from neighbor to neighbor through the years. The name adds a playful layer to a walk through this part of the city, where the building tends to catch people off guard.
The building is easy to reach on foot, and the best way to experience it is to walk slowly around the corner and watch how its shape seems to shift. Moving from one end of the lane to the other gives the clearest sense of how narrow the structure really looks.
