Falz-Fein House

The Falz-Fein House is an Art Nouveau building on Hoholia Street featuring two prominent male figures on the facade gripping a sphere decorated with stars. The structure displays both classical and Renaissance elements with detailed ornament work across its entire surface.

Architect Lev Wlodek designed the house in the early 1900s as a residence for Friedrich von Falz-Fein. This family later became known for founding a large estate called Askaniya Nova.

The building shows elements that reflect Odesa's architectural heritage, with classical details and ornate surfaces that shaped how the city looked in the early 1900s. Visitors can observe how wealthy families chose to design their homes during this period.

The exterior of the building is easily accessible for photographs since it sits on a busy street. Since it is an occupied private residence, the interior is not open for visitors.

Friedrich von Falz-Fein, the owner of the house, later kept zebras and antelope in a private animal collection at his estate. This reserve became one of the first cage-less animal sanctuaries.
