Ізмаїльський меморіальний парк-музей "Фортеця"

The Fortress is a memorial park-museum situated on extensive grounds along the Danube River, displaying military history and historical structures. The site contains artifacts, scale models, and original architectural elements spanning different periods of regional history.

The grounds began as an Ottoman fortification in the 16th century that passed between powerful nations multiple times. It became central to the military struggles between Russia and the Ottoman Empire until 1812.

The park displays objects from multiple periods that reflect the different peoples who lived in this Danube region over time. You can see how various groups left their mark on the landscape through what they built and used.

Since 2023, war artifacts are being transformed into artworks through a national project involving hundreds of artists from across the country. This initiative demonstrates a fresh approach to converting objects of conflict into creative and reflective expressions.
