Uman Raion spans across 4,528 square kilometers of central Ukraine, encompassing fertile plains and rolling hills within the Cherkasy Oblast administrative boundaries.
Created during Ukraine's 2020 administrative reform, Uman Raion incorporated four previous districts and the city of Uman into a single territorial unit.
The region maintains deep connections to Ukrainian agricultural traditions through the cultivation of winter wheat, sugar beets, and barley across its fertile territories.
The district contains twelve administrative subdivisions called hromadas, with the city of Uman serving as the governmental center for 247,847 residents.
Two major granite deposits at Starobabanske and Tanske provide substantial mineral resources that support the region's export activities.
