Gulu City

Gulu is an administrative city in northern Uganda that serves as the region's economic and social center. The city sits within a landscape of extensive farmland and established communities.

During British colonial rule, residents from the north were recruited into military and police services and served in both World Wars. This period shaped the city's development and structure fundamentally.

The Acholi community celebrates traditional ceremonies that remain central to local life and identity. Over time, people from neighboring regions have settled here, bringing their own customs and ways of life into the city's daily rhythm.

When visiting, know that several major hospitals are available in the city for medical support and services. The city has an established network of facilities accessible to visitors and residents alike.

Pece War Memorial Stadium was built in the 1950s by British authorities and remains a central sports venue today. The stadium is currently undergoing structural improvements while continuing to serve as an important gathering place.
