The Île de loisirs de la Corniche des Forts is a recreation area spanning 30 hectares of green space with meadows, gypsum cliffs, and allotments stretching between Château de Romainville and Folie de Pantin. The landscape combines natural features with recreational facilities and conservation areas for visitors to explore.
The leisure park project began in 2000 on the site of a former gypsum quarry that closed in 1965. Safety reinforcements in 2007 stabilized the underground galleries from the previous mining operations.
The Folie de Pantin building from the 18th century serves as a Nature House with a media library and exhibitions about environmental protection. Visitors come here to learn about the local ecosystem and conservation efforts in the region.
The site features about 1.3 kilometers of pathways accessible to visitors with reduced mobility. Sports equipment, climbing walls, and children's playgrounds offer recreational options for different age groups.
A 120-meter observation bridge allows visitors to watch protected wildlife species in a wooded section covering 20 hectares. This designated area is specifically designed for preserving local biodiversity.
