Devil's Tower, Archaeological site near Devil's Tower Road, Gibraltar

The limestone cave extends four meters into the cliff face, measuring ten meters in height and one meter in width at nine meters above sea level.

Dorothy Garrod conducted excavations between 1925 and 1927, discovering a Neanderthal child skull known as Gibraltar 2 along with numerous flint tools and animal remains.

The site reveals evidence of Neanderthal food preparation methods through burnt bones and charcoal deposits found within the cave structure.

Devil's Tower Road remains a reference point for visitors seeking to locate the archaeological area where the prehistoric discoveries were made.

The military tower that gave the site its name was demolished in 1940 to clear the firing line for Gibraltar's defense systems during World War II.
