432 Park Avenue, Residential skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan, US
432 Park Avenue is a residential tower of white concrete in Midtown Manhattan at the intersection of Park Avenue and 57th Street, rising 426 meters (1398 feet) into the air. Its 85 floors follow a squared grid pattern that repeats across the entire facade, giving the structure a geometric appearance.
After the demolition of the Drake Hotel in 2006, construction began in 2011 and ended in December 2015. The tower marked a new trend in the construction of extremely tall residential buildings in Manhattan, which would continue in the following years.
The tower stands among a series of residential buildings known as Billionaires' Row, which have reshaped the skyline of Midtown Manhattan in recent years. Passersby see the tall white facade from the street, now a symbol of the city's exclusive property market.
The 147 apartments are divided into 122 large units and 25 studios, served by 11 elevators. Residents have access to a private restaurant, a swimming pool, and a fitness area located inside the building.
The building contains technical floors with double height, arranged every 12 stories, creating gaps in the structure. These spaces reduce the wind forces acting on the tall concrete frame and improve the stability of the tower.
