Trump Tower, Mixed-use skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan, United States
This 58-floor tower stands 202 meters (663 feet) tall along Fifth Avenue, combining glass, aluminum, and reinforced concrete in its angled facade. The building houses retail floors below, office spaces in the middle, and residential units in the upper sections.
Construction finished in 1983 on the site where the Bonwit Teller department store once stood near the corner of 56th Street. Planning began in the late 1970s during a period of renewed development in this section of midtown.
Shoppers and office workers flow through the marble lobby, treating it as a midtown meeting point and shortcut during business hours. The ground floors serve as a casual gathering spot where locals pause for coffee or navigate the retail spaces between meetings.
The main entrance sits on Fifth Avenue between 56th and 57th Streets, where visitors can walk into the ground-floor atrium during regular business hours. Upper residential floors remain restricted to residents and their guests.
The exterior follows a 28-sided geometric pattern instead of the usual rectangular form, creating extra corner windows on each floor. This design allows more natural light to enter the interior spaces than traditional straight facades provide.
