Key Tower, Postmodern skyscraper in Downtown Cleveland, United States
Key Tower is a postmodern skyscraper with 57 floors and a height of 288 meters in the heart of Cleveland's business district. The structure features glass and steel construction and offers approximately 1.5 million square feet of office space.
The building was completed in 1992 and replaced Terminal Tower as the tallest structure in Ohio following three years of construction. This project marked a turning point in the city's architectural development.
The main lobby displays a large mural called Songs for Sale by artist David Salle, which arrived in 1998 and shapes the first impression for people who pass through daily. This artwork reflects the building's role as a gathering point in the city's commercial life.
The building is accessible to visitors and the entry lobby can be visited without restrictions. It is best explored during business hours when public areas are fully open and staffed.
The building held the title of tallest structure between Chicago and New York City from its completion until 2007. This position as a regional landmark held special significance for the city's identity during that period.
