Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal
Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal, Art Deco museum complex in Cincinnati, United States.
Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal is a large building with three separate museums, an OMNIMAX theater, and spaces for changing exhibits. The structure combines limestone and steel in one place where you can explore natural history, science, and local heritage.
The building started as a train station in 1933 and was designed to connect people and goods moving through the city. The design by architect Alfred T. Fellheimer was later recognized as a National Historic Landmark because it represents an important part of American transportation history.
The museums tell stories about Cincinnati and its people through exhibits that show how the city developed and what shaped its residents. You can see today how these stories are woven into the displays and how local traditions continue to matter to the community.
The building sits northwest of downtown and has parking available for visitors. The best time to visit is during the open hours when you can move through the exhibits without rushing through the galleries and theaters.
The central rotunda has large murals by artist Winold Reiss that show the story of transportation and trade in Cincinnati. These paintings are striking because they fill the tall space and capture how important the city was to the country's growth.
