Cheltenham Township spans 9.03 square miles of land with rolling hills and several streams, including the Tookany Creek in southeastern Montgomery County.
Established in 1682, the township developed from a mill-based economy along Tookany Creek to become a suburban retreat for Philadelphia residents by the late 1800s.
The township contains ten distinct districts, each with its own character, from Glenside to Cheltenham Village, supporting a population of over 37,000 residents.
The Cheltenham School District operates seven public schools, while SEPTA provides public transportation connections to Philadelphia and surrounding areas.
