East Aurora, Village in Erie County, New York, United States
East Aurora is a village in Erie County, New York, situated about 20 minutes southeast of Buffalo in the eastern part of Aurora town. The place features historic buildings, the long-running Vidler's 5 & 10 store on Main Street, and serves as the global headquarters for Fisher-Price toys.
Millard Fillmore, who later became President of the United States, settled here in the 1820s and built his own house while practicing law. The village later became a center of the Arts and Crafts movement when the Roycroft Campus was established around 1900.
The Roycroft Campus represents a working community where artists and craftspeople created by hand together. Visitors can see how this place shaped an entire movement focused on making things with care and purpose.
The place is easy to explore on foot, with major attractions like Vidler's 5 & 10 and the Roycroft Campus within walking distance of each other. Main Street has plenty of local shops and the area is well-marked for visitors.
Fisher-Price, one of the world's largest toy makers, runs its global headquarters here and has shaped the village's identity and economy. The toy company's presence shows how manufacturing became central to the community's development.
