Community of True Inspiration Residence
Community of True Inspiration Residence, Historic residence in West Seneca, United States.
The Community of True Inspiration Residence is a wooden-frame house with a gable roof built in the 1850s, standing one and a half stories with period details intact. The building remains today as one of the few surviving structures from the early settlement period and welcomes visitors to explore its interior.
The Community of True Inspiration purchased land from Seneca peoples and built this residence in 1850 as part of their Ebenezer settlement in the area. The house survived the changes of time and was transferred to the local Historical Society in 1956, where it continues to be preserved.
The house reflects how members of the religious community lived together during the 1800s and maintained their traditions within its walls. The rooms and their layout show how these people organized their daily life and expressed their values through the way they built and used the space.
The house is located in West Seneca and is open to visitors interested in learning about the area's early settlement history. It is helpful to check ahead before visiting since hours are limited and guided tours are often offered to explore the property.
The building was relocated from its original location in 1956 to prevent it from falling into disrepair and being lost. This move allowed the house to be restored later with structural improvements while maintaining its historical character.
