Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport, International airport in Barrigada Municipality, Guam.
Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport is an international airport in Barrigada Municipality on the western Pacific island of Guam. The terminal building covers a large area and includes two asphalt runways that handle both civilian and military flights.
The airport opened in 1943 during World War II and initially served military purposes. Later, it received its name honoring Antonio Borja Won Pat, who became the first delegate from Guam to serve in Congress.
Local artworks from Guam appear in different areas of the facility, showing island culture through carefully selected pieces. The program bringing these works into public view connects travelers with the traditions of the Pacific before they leave the terminal.
Rental cars, taxis, and organized transportation are available directly at the terminal, providing connections to different parts of the island. Travelers continuing on to Honolulu go through special customs procedures that require extra time before their next flight.
Millions of travelers use this airport each year as it serves as the main hub for the western Pacific region. Those flying from here to Hawaii encounter a special customs system that exists in this form at very few airports.
