Hamilton, New England town in Essex County, Massachusetts

Hamilton stretches across 14.2 square miles of land with winding tree-lined roads, historic houses, pastoral landscapes, and numerous stone walls throughout the region.

In June 1638, John Winthrop the Younger acquired the territory of present-day Essex County from Masconomet, the chief of the Agawam Indians, for twenty English pounds.

The Myopia Hunt Club maintains Hamilton's equestrian traditions through regular polo matches, fox hunts, and various horse-related activities throughout the year.

The Hamilton/Wenham train station on the Newburyport branch of MBTA Commuter Rail connects residents to Boston's North Station for daily commuting.

Hamilton became the first municipality in Massachusetts to implement mandatory composting regulations for all residents in 2021.
