Bradley Palmer State Park, Public state park in Essex County, United States
Bradley Palmer State Park is a 721-acre protected area with pine forests, meadows, and trails running alongside the Ipswich River in Massachusetts. The grounds feature diverse landscapes ranging from dense woodland to open spaces.
The site became a Massachusetts state park in 1944 when Bradley Palmer, a prominent attorney, donated his large estate to the Commonwealth. This gift transformed private land into a public nature preserve.
The Willowdale Estate within the park functions as a cultural center, hosting community events and educational programs about local nature and history.
The park has two entrances: Asbury Street in Topsfield for large vehicles and trailers, or Highland Street in Hamilton for cars. Both access points lead to the trails and outdoor activities throughout the grounds.
During summer months in July and August, there is a seasonal wading pool offering families a refreshing option. This simple facility draws visitors looking for cooling relief on hot days.
