Mount Hight is a summit in New Hampshire's White Mountains, part of the Carter-Moriah Range. The peak offers views across to the Presidential Range and down into the Wild River Wilderness area.
The mountain was incorporated into the Appalachian Trail system, connecting multiple hiking routes through New Hampshire's White Mountains. This integration made it a significant waypoint in the region's hiking network.
Local hiking communities consider Mount Hight a secondary peak to Carter Dome, yet many regard its viewpoint superior to its taller neighbor.
Access is primarily through the Nineteen Mile Brook Trail, which climbs steeply through forested terrain to the summit. Wear sturdy hiking boots and plan for a long day, as the trail is demanding from start to finish.
The summit hosts a small alpine zone with exposed rock faces and specialized mountain plants. These hardy plants have adapted to thrive in the harsh weather conditions found at this elevation.
