Built in 1975 by architects Shreve, Lamb & Harmon on the former site of the 71st Regiment armory, which was demolished during the 1960s redevelopment.
A 23-foot bronze sculpture titled 'Obelisk to Peace' by Irving Marantz stands at the main entrance on a polished granite base since 1972.
The building contains 12 elevators and connects directly to the 33rd Street subway station, serving the 4, 6, and express trains for easy transportation.
The structure houses multiple educational institutions, including Success Academy High School and Manhattan Academy for Arts and Language across several floors.
