Sniffen Court Historic District, Historic district in Murray Hill, Manhattan, United States.
Sniffen Court contains ten two-story brick buildings arranged along a narrow alley between East 36th and East 37th Streets in Manhattan.
Built in 1863 during the Civil War period, these structures initially served as stables for local families before their transformation into residential spaces.
The Amateur Comedy Club, operating since 1884, established its permanent home in two of the former stables in 1918 and continues its activities there.
The district maintains the original architectural features of the buildings, including large arched doorways that previously allowed carriages to enter.
Musicians Cole Porter and Lenny Kravitz, model Claudia Schiffer, and author Pearl Buck selected this secluded courtyard as their Manhattan residence.
