Belle Harbor, Coastal residential district in Queens, United States.
Belle Harbor is a residential neighborhood on the Rockaway Peninsula stretching from Beach 126th to Beach 141st Street. The area features wide tree-lined avenues and waterfront properties that give it a distinct coastal character with single-family homes and open green spaces.
Development began in 1900 when the Belle Harbor Land Company started selling land parcels for summer homes near the Atlantic Ocean. The neighborhood grew from this initiative into a permanent residential community.
The neighborhood maintains strong community bonds through shared spaces and remembrance. Residents gather at local landmarks that honor their shared past and create places for connection.
The neighborhood is reached via two major bridges, the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge and the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge, both connecting Rockaway to the rest of Queens. Several MTA bus routes also serve the area and link it to surrounding neighborhoods.
The Belle Harbor Yacht Club was founded in 1905, before the neighborhood was even officially named. The club remains active today, offering sailing instruction and serving as a gathering place for the local maritime community.
