Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament

The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament is a Baroque Revival cathedral in downtown Altoona featuring elaborate stained glass windows and richly decorated altar furnishings throughout its interior. The multi-story structure combines classical religious architecture with decorative details that extend through the entire worship space.

Construction began in 1924 and was completed in 1960 to serve the growing Catholic population in the region. The project was directed by architect George I. Lovatt Sr. and is now recognized as an important part of the city's historic downtown.

The cathedral serves as a gathering place where the Catholic community comes together for regular worship and spiritual life. The ornate interior and decorated altar spaces create an environment designed for prayer and reflection.
