Skyliner, Wooden roller coaster in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
The Skyliner is a wooden roller coaster at Lakemont Park with approximately 730 meters of track that lifts riders to heights of about 18 meters. The structure uses traditional wooden construction and carries groups of up to 18 people through multiple turns and descents.
The coaster was designed in 1960 by John C. Allen for Roseland Park in New York and originally installed there. It was relocated to Lakemont Park in Pennsylvania in 1987, where it has operated for visitors since then.
The train features the colors and logo of the local Altoona Curve minor league baseball team, reflecting the connection between the amusement park and regional sports culture.
The ride is best accessible when the park is open and during good weather conditions, since poor conditions can lead to preventive closures. It is advisable to visit during early or late hours to enjoy shorter wait times.
The coaster holds recognition as an ACE Coaster Classic, a title that honors traditional wooden coasters with preserved historical design and operation. This recognition demonstrates the ride's commitment to maintaining classic roller coaster engineering.
