John A. Latsch State Park

John A. Latsch State Park extends across 450 acres of land, featuring steep bluffs rising 500 feet above the Mississippi River and natural woodland areas.

The park was established in 1925 through the efforts of John A. Latsch, who dedicated his time to preserving natural landscapes throughout Minnesota for public use.

The park serves as an educational center where the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources conducts guided walks to teach visitors about local flora and fauna.

Visitors can access the half-mile trail with 592 steps leading to Mount Charity's summit without requiring a vehicle permit for park entrance.

The park includes direct access to Whitman Dam and provides habitat for numerous bird species that migrate along the Mississippi River throughout the year.
