Winona Masonic Temple

The Winona Masonic Temple is a red brick and stone building with carefully crafted stone details in the Beaux-Arts style. Inside, the structure features a grand proscenium stage and original mahogany finishes throughout its spaces.

The temple was completed in 1909 under architect Warren Powers Laird's direction. Its construction marked a period of growth for Freemasonry in Minnesota at that time.

The building houses a large stage with scenic backdrops created specifically for ceremonies. The spaces reflect how important Freemasonry was to the community during that era.

The building is located downtown and functions as a community center hosting various events. Visitors can find accessible areas, though some parts of the structure follow older standards.

The stage backdrops came from Chicago's Sosman and Landis Scene Painting Studios, a well-known theatrical company of that era. These professional theater sets remain in the building today and show how high the standards were.
