Metropolitan National Bank Tower, High-rise building in Little Rock, Arkansas.
The Metropolitan National Bank Tower is a 40-story high-rise of glass and steel in downtown Little Rock, standing 166 m (545 ft) tall. The building connects to a 952-vehicle parking facility via an elevated walkway and contains 17 elevators for internal circulation.
The building opened in 1986 as Capitol Tower and became Arkansas's tallest structure at that time. It surpassed the neighboring Regions Center, establishing a new standard for the city's skyline.
The tower displays programmable LED lights on its exterior that glow in different colors during national holidays and celebrations. This lighting feature has made it a recognizable symbol in the city's skyline.
The building is accessible via the elevated walkway connecting to the parking area, making vehicle access straightforward. Visitors should note that the tower is primarily a commercial space, so access may vary depending on events or business hours.
Timothy McVeigh initially considered this tower as a potential target before choosing a different building in Oklahoma City. A ground-floor flower shop on the premises is said to have influenced his decision to select another location.
