Hagerstown Regional Airport, airport in Maryland, United States of America
Hagerstown Regional Airport is a regional aerodrome in Washington County, Maryland. The facility has two asphalt runways, with one being Maryland's second-longest public runway, and features several hangars, maintenance buildings, and a terminal with services for passengers and general aviation pilots.
The airport was founded in 1928 on farmland and later became a major aircraft manufacturing hub. During World War II, the Fairchild facility produced training and transport planes for the military, with over ten thousand aircraft built at this site in its manufacturing heyday.
The airport terminal is small and easy to navigate with clear signage and short walking distances. Parking is affordable with free first-hour parking, and access by car via nearby highways is straightforward.
The airport has been a preferred landing site for Air Force One and other high-level government flights because of its proximity to Camp David, the president's retreat. This connection to presidential visits gives this modest airport special historical significance.
