Mohegan Sun, Casino and entertainment complex in Uncasville, Connecticut, United States
Mohegan Sun is a complex with gaming machines, tables, hotel rooms and an arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The facility spreads across several levels with gaming areas, restaurants, shops and event spaces along the Thames River.
The Mohegan opened the complex in October 1996 on their reservation land along the Thames River. Expansions in the following years added more gaming areas, dining options and the large event center.
Artwork and symbols from Mohegan traditions appear throughout the interior, including wolves and motifs that tell stories of the tribe. These elements remind guests that the property stands on indigenous land and operates under tribal management.
The complex operates around the clock and offers parking in several areas surrounding the building. The arena hosts concerts and sporting events that draw larger crowds on specific evenings.
In 2020 the property closed for the first time since opening due to the pandemic and later introduced new safety measures. Visitors can also find a planetarium inside that offers shows about celestial bodies and navigation techniques.
