A Christmas Story House, Movie house museum in Tremont, Cleveland, United States
A Christmas Story House is a museum inside a Victorian home in Tremont, Ohio. The complex includes four buildings that show rooms and furnishings from the 1983 film production.
Director Bob Clark chose this Cleveland house in 1983 because the department store Higbee's was nearby and the Cuyahoga River Valley was visible. Brian Jones bought the property later with earnings from his business that made replicas of the leg lamp from the film.
The building represents the world of Ralphie Parker and shows rooms as they appeared in the 1983 film. Visitors recognize furniture and objects that play a role in the story and can understand how life looked for the family on screen.
Guided tours through the museum run daily and show the rooms where scenes were filmed. The site is walkable and sits in a residential area with parking available nearby.
The leg lamp from the film became a symbol and Brian Jones built a business selling copies of it. The proceeds from this trade allowed him to buy the house and set up the museum.
