Riverside Cemetery Chapel

Riverside Cemetery Chapel is a Gothic Revival sandstone chapel located within a cemetery grounds. The interior features a square layout with wooden pews and was designed to accommodate funeral services and memorials.

The chapel was built in 1876 and received a covered entrance addition in 1897. It underwent extensive restoration work and reopened to the public after a period of decline.

The chapel served as a central place for funeral services and remembrance in the local community. Visitors can still see the simple wooden pews that defined the space for these solemn occasions.

The chapel is situated on the cemetery grounds and accessible through the main entrance area. Visitors should be mindful that this is a historic site and respectful behavior is appropriate.

The building featured a mechanical system that could lower coffins from an elevated platform into the storage vault below. Four narrow metal tubes ran through the roof to provide ventilation for the storage area.
