The Arthur M. Parker House is an early 20th-century residential home located on East Jefferson Avenue in Detroit. The structure features a two-story design with brick on the lower level and stucco walls with decorative timber framing above.
The house was built in 1901 for the secretary-treasurer of a boiler manufacturing company. It gained National Register status in 1985.
The residence served as office space for Detroit's school administration and later housed a Lutheran organization's headquarters. These shifts show how the building's role in community life changed over time.
The residence sits on East Jefferson Avenue next to another historic property. Visitors can best view the exterior architecture from the street to appreciate the building's detailed design.
The building displays a neo-medieval design with irregular bays that create an asymmetrical exterior. The architects Malcomson and Higginbotham applied this unusual style approach to what was a private residence.
