Frederic M. Sibley Lumber Company Office Building
Frederic M. Sibley Lumber Company Office Building, Neo-Classical office building in Detroit, United States.
The red brick structure at 6460 Kercheval Avenue features limestone trim and eleven bays divided by brick pillars across its facade.
Built in 1925, this building served as headquarters for Detroit's second-largest lumber company under the leadership of Frederic M. Sibley.
The building's Neo-Classical design includes Corinthian capital pilasters at the entrance and carved limestone cartouches between floors.
The office building maintains its original architectural elements, including the carved inscription F.M. Sibley Lumber Co above the main entrance.
This location marks where Sibley collaborated with August Fruehauf to develop the first semi-trailers for lumber transportation.
