Ashintully Gardens, Estate garden in Tyringham, United States
Ashintully Gardens is an estate in Tyringham covering around 120 acres with both formal and natural sections. A man-made fountain pond, planted pine areas, and tiered ground levels are connected by a natural stream that runs through wooded sections with deciduous trees.
The property formed in 1910 when three separate farms were combined and a Georgian mansion with four Doric columns was constructed. The surrounding gardens were later developed as an artistic extension of the main house.
The gardens reflect a composer's approach to landscape design, where pathways and spaces follow musical principles rather than rigid symmetry. Walking through the grounds, visitors experience how this artistic vision shapes the flow and rhythm of their visit.
The grounds are open only during warmer months on certain days, and comfortable walking shoes are recommended because the terrain is hilly and requires sustained walking. It is wise to check exact hours in advance and allow several hours to explore without rushing.
The property received recognition from the Massachusetts Horticultural Society in 1997 for its collection of ornamental trees and shrubs. This award marks the botanical quality that visitors can still observe during their walk.
