Belvedere Club, Private summer resort club in Charlevoix, Michigan, United States.
The Belvedere Club is a private summer resort with 91 cottages nestled between two lakes in Northern Michigan. The grounds stretch along the shores of Round Lake and Lake Charlevoix, providing waterfront access from both sides of the property.
The site was established in 1878 when Baptist families from Kalamazoo created a summer retreat. A 40-room hotel was built in 1887 to serve as the central gathering place for the expanding community.
The name comes from the Italian word for outlook, chosen by early settlers who valued the lake views. The community today maintains its heritage through seasonal gatherings and the shared use of outdoor spaces throughout the grounds.
The site operates seasonally from late June through Labor Day in early September, with staffed gates controlling entry. Access is restricted to members and their authorized guests, so advance arrangements are needed to visit.
Many families maintain their membership across multiple generations, creating a rare continuity within the community. This long-standing connection has made the resort a place where relationships and traditions run deeper than at most similar destinations.
