Blackfoot LDS Tabernacle
Blackfoot LDS Tabernacle, Mormon tabernacle in Blackfoot, Idaho.
The Blackfoot LDS Tabernacle features Gothic and Romanesque architectural elements with pointed arches, detailed stonework, and a large central auditorium designed by Hyrum Pope.
Construction of the Blackfoot LDS Tabernacle began in 1918 and reached completion in 1924, marking a period of religious expansion in southeastern Idaho.
The structure transformed from a Mormon gathering place to a civic auditorium in 1980 when the church sold it to the city of Blackfoot.
Located at 132 S. Shilling Street in Blackfoot, the building now functions as the Hawker Funeral Home following its purchase by Perry Hawker in 2003.
The National Register of Historic Places listed this structure on September 19, 1977, under reference number 77000456, recognizing its architectural significance.
