Blackfoot LDS Tabernacle, Mormon tabernacle in Blackfoot, Idaho.

The Blackfoot LDS Tabernacle is a religious building in Idaho featuring Gothic and Romanesque architectural styles with pointed arches and intricate stonework throughout. The large central auditorium was designed by Hyrum Pope to accommodate congregational gatherings and community events.

Construction began in 1918 and the building was completed in 1924 during a period when the church was expanding its presence across southeastern Idaho. This reflected broader growth in the faith community during the early 20th century.

The structure transformed from a Mormon gathering place to a civic auditorium in 1980 when the church sold it to the city of Blackfoot.

The building sits in downtown Blackfoot and is easy to reach on foot. Today it operates as a funeral home, so contacting ahead is wise to confirm access and viewing opportunities.

The building changed hands in 1980 when the church sold it to the city, and later became a funeral home in 2003 under new ownership. This shift shows how historic structures find new purposes in their communities.
