Blue Rock State Park, State park in Muskingum County, US
Blue Rock State Park spans 322 acres of forested land with a 15-acre lake, surrounded by the larger 4,573-acre Blue Rock State Forest.
The state purchased the forest land in 1936, constructed Cutler Lake in 1938, and established the park in 1949 through the Division of Parks and Recreation.
The area holds geological significance with blue-colored shale formations created from ancient sea sediments dating back millions of years.
The park maintains multiple camping areas, hiking trails, picnic facilities, and a public beach at Cutler Lake for swimming during daylight hours.
The surrounding region experienced a notable mining incident in 1856 when trapped miners survived for 14 days before their rescue.
