Buckingham Mountain

Buckingham Mountain is a summit in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, rising about 520 feet above the surrounding terrain. The peak sits within the Piedmont Plateau and forms part of the region's rolling landscape.

The Mount Gilead African Methodist Episcopal Church was built in 1835 and rebuilt in 1852, standing at the mountain's summit. This church served as a refuge for people escaping slavery.

The mountain carries the Lenape name Pepacating, reflecting the deep ties between this place and the indigenous people who lived here long ago. Walking through the area, visitors can sense this connection to the original inhabitants.

Mountain Top Road West trail provides accessible paths to the summit and suits both beginner and experienced hikers. Wear comfortable shoes and check weather conditions before heading out, as conditions can change.
