Bucher's Mill Covered Bridge

The double Burr arch truss bridge spans Cocalico Creek with a length of 64 feet, featuring oak planks and a traditional red exterior paint.

Elias McMellen constructed the bridge in 1891 for $1167, and after flood damage, rebuilt it in 1892 for an additional $1025.

The bridge represents Pennsylvania's rural engineering heritage, with its design reflecting the traditional covered bridge construction methods of Lancaster County.

Located northeast of Ephrata off Pennsylvania Route 272, the bridge maintains a load limit of 4 short tons and accommodates vehicle traffic.

The structure stands as the second shortest covered bridge in Lancaster County, with white-painted approaches and steel hanger rods supporting the span.
