The Carson McCullers House stands as a two-story Second Empire residence with a slate-covered mansard roof and a multi-story tower projection at 131 S. Broadway.

Built in 1880 as a parsonage, the house underwent Colonial Revival modifications in 1910 and became the residence of author Carson McCullers from 1945 to 1967.

The National Register of Historic Places listed property contains exhibits and displays highlighting the life of Carson McCullers, who wrote numerous celebrated literary works.
