Chester A. Arthur Home, Presidential residence in Rose Hill, Manhattan, United States.

The Chester A. Arthur Home is a five-story building featuring Romanesque Revival architecture at 123 Lexington Avenue. It displays segmented arch windows and an elaborate cornice, with the lower two floors currently occupied by Kalustyan's grocery store.

Chester A. Arthur took the presidential oath in this building on September 19, 1881, following President James Garfield's assassination. This event made the house a significant location in American history.

The building shows how wealthy New Yorkers of the 1800s lived, with its five-story design and ornate architecture reflecting the owner's status and wealth. The upper floors served as private living quarters for the family, while the lower levels accommodated commercial use, a common arrangement in this neighborhood.

The building is located between 28th and 29th Streets, easily found in Manhattan's Rose Hill neighborhood. Since the lower floors house a business, you can view the exterior and historical features from the street.

In 1964, the Native New Yorkers Historical Society and New York Life Insurance placed a commemorative bronze plaque inside the building. This marker commemorates the site's historical importance to the American presidency.
