Church of Our Lady of Esperanza

The church was established in 1909 through the leadership of Dona Manuela de Barril, wife of the Spanish Consul-General, supported by substantial funding from railroad heir Archer Milton Huntington. This founding moment reflects the growing Spanish Catholic presence in Manhattan during that era.

This church remains a gathering place for Spanish-speaking Catholics throughout Upper Manhattan, hosting regular services and community activities. The space reflects the deep connection between the local Spanish-speaking population and their faith tradition.
