Chimborazo Park, Historic park in Richmond, United States.
Chimborazo Park is a 30-acre recreational space situated on a hilltop in Richmond with views toward the James River and downtown. The grounds include a dog park with separate areas for large and small dogs, along with a rental facility for events.
During the Civil War, the site served as Chimborazo Hospital, treating more than 76,000 Confederate soldiers from 1862 to 1865. After the war, the location was transformed into a public park for community use.
The Richmond Medical Museum occupies a 1909 brick building that once housed the United States Weather Bureau headquarters. Visitors can explore how this same space tells two different stories from Richmond's past.
The dog park features separate zones for different dog sizes, making it easy for visitors with pets to find an appropriate area. The rental facility on the eastern edge allows groups to book outdoor events.
An eight-foot-tall replica of the Statue of Liberty stands on the grounds, installed by local Boy Scouts in the 1950s. This unexpected monument surprises many visitors who wander through the park.
